A heraldic description (blazon)
- is a special text, a kind of code used to describe the image of a coat of arms.
In ancient times, coats of arms were granted to their owners in a special way. A special certificate was created, with only one copy made. It contained an image of the coat of arms and its description. However, the armorial register contained not only an image of the coat of arms, which was often black and white or outlined, but also a blazon, or descriptive part, which could be used to reconstruct the image.
The importance of the blazon lies in the fact that every element of the coat of arms — the figures, the shape of the shield, and all the other components — has its own meaning and interpretation.

This is a brief heraldic description of the coat of arms, or (blazon). It contains only a description of the coat of arms, in accordance with the rules of heraldry.
A full semantic description of the coat of arms. This reveals the meaning of all the symbols, enamels and metals on the coat of arms in the established order. First, the shield and everything on it (shape, enamels, metals and heraldic figures) are described. Then, everything above the shield (crown, helmet, mantling and coat of arms) is described. Next, the shield bearers are described, followed by everything below the shield (ribbons, ground, cups and orders).
Font compositions, handwriting
When designing a coat of arms, creating a blazon is an optional extra. Both the blazon and the description are integral to the coat of arms, but they serve different purposes. The blazon is necessary for the restoration of the coat of arms — it is an official textual description stored in the armorials.
Unlike a full description, a brief description is compiled at the customer's discretion.

This will enable the recipient to learn the meaning of the symbols, familiarise themselves with the conclusions of the heraldist who conducted the research and feel a greater connection to the symbol they have been given.
Blazon design
When developing your personal (family) or corporate coat of arms, the blazon/description is drawn up on a special form together with an image of the coat of arms.
